The Singapore Positive Education Network (SPEN) is a group of educators, parents, researchers, and other community members committed to advancing the cause of positive education. SPEN upholds the importance of applying the principles of positive psychology in school settings to foster students’ character, well-being and flourishing. Its key goals include supporting collaboration, sharing effective practices and fostering learning to advance positive education in Singapore and beyond.
We chose as our logo a flower with four heart-shaped petals, which symbolize the network of four key groups in the social ecology of students: teachers, researchers, parents and the community. The heart-shaped petals represent each group’s focus on educating the heart, not just the mind, of our youth. The four groups are united by one common goal - to support the child who is at the centre of the petals, to thrive. At first glance, the logo also looks like a butterfly, a symbol of growth and transformation.
